Benefits of Spring Cleaning
We are well into the month of February and that means it’s time for some spring cleaning! Cleaning out the clutter in your life may seem like an interminable task, but there are some psychological benefits to getting a fresh start as we move out of the cold winter months.
Here are some added benefits to the task of doing some spring cleaning.
A Clean Desk is a Productive Desk
If you desk is covered with papers, old receipts and coffee cups it can definitely get in the way of your productivity. Tidying up your desk can you help you organize your thoughts and work more efficiently. Also, try ditching the secret candy drawer you have been working on since Halloween. Studies show that people who snack heavily at their desk are less productive than their individuals who snack in the break room.
2. Whistle While you Work!
Or, at the very least turn some music on while you embark on your spring cleaning journey. You can turn the not-so-fun task of tidying up your home into a tolerable experience. Music has been shown to boost endorphin levels, which make you happier. Hell, you might even enjoy vacuuming!
3. Divide and Conquer
It may seem daunting to tackle your whole home in one sitting. Before you start your spring cleaning efforts, divide the home into different rooms and determine what needs the most work. Start there and work your way down the list until you have a shiny, sleek and completely clean living space.
4. Out with the Old!
While you go through your cabinets, pantry and storage space take an inventory of your items. If you haven’t used an appliance or item since the last time you did spring cleaning it might be time to get rid of it. Instead of tossing in the garbage, bring it to your local Goodwill where they will find a good home for your old stuff! If it’s something of value try selling it on Craigslist, that way you can…
5. Reward yourself with a New Toy!
You’ve worked hard to clean your home and that warrants a reward! Buy yourself a new table setting to replace the old one or maybe some new decorations from your home. Spring cleaning is all about new beginnings, so give your fresh space a new start!
